mixed feelings about my stay
small room street noise
the room size really surprised me. it was smaller than expected. the noise from the street was noticeable, especially at night. we had some trouble sleeping because of this. the limited selection at the rooftop bar was also a bit of a letdown.

Excellent Stay
english speakers well-kept onsens hot foot bath
I found the staff to be excellent, many spoke English fluently, which greatly assisted me. The onsens were maintained in great condition throughout my visit. I particularly appreciated the hot foot bath on the rooftop after long days spent touring.
The hotel's beverage options lacked refinement. The bar served drinks from taps and used plastic glassware.

This hotel is in a tourist-friendly area, conveniently within walking distance of the Gion district. Accessing other attractions requires using public transportation. The hotel is directly across from a specialty grocery store.

The 9th-floor reception provides complimentary matcha coffee and various treats daily, I enjoyed this. The hotel's rooftop bar offers a unique foot soak option. I used this several times. Breakfast bento boxes offer plenty of choices.

Every staff member I encountered was professional and genuinely friendly. The staff promptly contacted me when I left belongings behind after checkout. They held the items for a week until my friend could retrieve them, so helpful.

rooftop terrace local food under-bed storage
the rooftop terrace had a foot soak and great city views. breakfast included a different assortment of local food each day i liked the superior double room it fit my suitcase and the storage under the bed helped movement.
the hotel could use additional dining choices

okay, but problems exsisted
plastic glassware bad drinks
the staff was friendly, if language got in the way sometimes.
i felt disappointed by this hotel. the rooftop bar uses plastic glassware, also the drinks tasted like pre-mixed, bad quality drinks. my sparkling wine resembled wine-flavored bubble water.

really good stay
excellent location rooftop bar public onsen
The location is excellent. It is next to Takashimaya and Daimaru in the shopping district. Gion district is a short walk away. The facilities include a rooftop bar overlooking the river and a public onsen . I found the onsen very relaxing..

The hotel offers free coffee, matcha latte, soda, and ice cream. These complimentary treats proved welcome after long days spent exploring. The rooftop bar also provides amazing views of the surroundings.

decent stay downtown
central location free drinks traditional onsen small room plastic cup unresponsive staff
the location was central. i could easily walk to many restaurants (i really liked a ramen place nearby). the hotel also provided free drinks at the rooftop bar. i enjoyed the onsen after a long day.
the room felt a bit small. it was hard to fully open my suitcase. the rooftop bar only offered drinks in plastic cups. also, i sent an email before my arrival and never received a response.
